Transportation Access
Poros is accessible by ferryboat from the port of Piraeus and the journey lasts a little more than 2 hours. However, choosing to travel with a catamaran or the flying dolphin that depart from Marina Zea in Piraeus will reduce the journey duration to a little less than an hour.
Poros is also connected with the port of Galatas on the Peloponnese by ferryboat and taxi boats, and this journey takes about 5 minutes. The distance to Galatas’ from Athens is 195 km. The Athens - Galatas route is a beautiful drive that passes by the famous Corinth Canal. There are also local buses (KTEL) that connect Galatas to the town of Nafplio, which is itself connected with Athens via bus.
In the summer months, Poros is connected daily via boat/catamaran/flying dolphin with the other islands of the Argosaronic Gulf, i.e. Methana, Aegina, Hydra and Spetses.
On the island of Poros, visitors can circulate by car, bicycle, taxi or local buses.
