Overview & Map
Poros Island is situated on the south western part of the Saronic Gulf, at a distance of 32 miles from the port of Piraeus. Although it is not a very big island (31 km2), it has about 43 km of coast and two mountains, the highest of which has an altitude of 378 m.
Poros is a green island, where pines, olive and lemon trees formulate little forests. The Island is separated from the Peloponnese by a narrow strait, while the port of Galatas on the Peloponnese is only a few minutes away by ferry boat.
Since Poros is an easily accessible island near Athens, it is among the most popular destinations for a weekend getaway, attracting many youngsters, couples and families.
